How to withdraw GBP using FasterPayment

Important

GBP withdrawals will become available within 24 hours after you complete the Intermediate verification level. Once GBP withdrawals are active, you’ll receive a push notification confirming this. Wirex supports Faster Payments (FPS) for GBP transfers, allowing you to make withdrawals quickly and without any fees. FPS transfers are usually processed instantly, but in some cases, they may take up to 2 hours, depending on the bank's processing times.

Below is the step-by-step flow that will show you how to withdraw GBP using FPS transfers.

Step 1: Open the Wirex app and click Accounts

The first step is to open your Wirex app and click on the 'Accounts' button. You can find this button on the main 'Dashboard' of the app. Once you click on it, you will be taken to a screen with all your traditional currency accounts. Choose GBP.

Step 2: Choose GBP and click Send

Choose your GBP account and click Send.

Step 3: Enter Account number and Sort code

Entering the correct Name , Account number and Sort code is a crucial step to ensure your GBP withdrawal is processed smoothly and without unexpected delays. These details identify the receiving bank and account, so always double-check for accuracy before proceeding to avoid errors or rejections.

Step 4: Complete a Confirmation of Payee (CoP) check

As part of the security process, you will be asked to complete a Confirmation of Payee (CoP) check when making a payment. This check ensures that the account details you've entered match the recipient's name, helping to prevent lost funds and fraud. Step 5: Enter additional recipient details

Providing the recipient's address, city, country, and ZIP code is optional for GBP withdrawals. However, we include this step for customers who may need to add these details for their records or specific banking requirements. Feel free to skip it if it's not needed.

Step 6: Choose the amount and add the reference

On this screen, you'll need to enter the amount you wish to withdraw and, optionally, add a payment reference. The reference can help identify the purpose of the transfer for your records or the recipient's needs. Ensure the amount does not exceed your available balance to avoid errors.

Step 7: Confirm the payment

The final step is confirmation. Before proceeding, please double-check the amount and recipient details to ensure everything is correct. To complete the withdrawal securely, you can choose either biometrics (Face ID or Touch ID) or SMS verification (a 6-digit one-time password sent via text message). Once confirmed, your withdrawal will start processing.

Step 8: Wait for the payment to be processed

For GBP transfers using Faster Payments, the transaction is usually processed instantly. In some rare instances, it may take up to 2 hours for the payment to be fully processed and reflected in your account.
