One of the new products that we’ve been working on for some months is going through compliance approval process with one of our card issuers.
This will only be available to customers in South East Asia.
Other card products will be available to other parts of the world soon too.
The Wirex TravelCard for South East Asia allows expats, freelancers and travellers to fund their card via mobile app from bank transfer or external card top-up.
The goal is to make this available in multiple currencies including USD, SGD, AUD, JPY and HKD.
Comprehensive and cutting-edge travelcard features include:
Real exchange rates every time you spend.
Why lose out on real-time interbank exchange rates from expensive money changers. The Wirex travelcard lets you preload your card at the best rates from the comfort of your mobile phone.
Sending and receiving money
Use your Wirex app to send money without fees. Your friends will receive it instantly and can access the funds immediately with their Wirex app and card.
A safer way to spend abroad
Forget carrying all that cash when you travel abroad with the Wirex travelcard. Lose your cash? It’s probably gone forever. Lose your Wirex card? It’s easy to put a block on it from inside your Wirex account (accessible for desktop or mobile).
When is the Wirex TravelCard available?
If you’re in South East Asia, you can now register to be on the waiting list at https://wirex.sg (this site isn’t finished yet, but a quick site version was required as part of our application process).
If you’re not in South East Asia and not yet on the Wirex Contactless Card Waiting List, follow that link and add your email.
We’ll notify everyone on the product launch timeline as soon as we can.
2018 is going to be amazing for our industry, for Wirex and for our customers.
The Wirex TravelCard for Asia is just one of the hot projects our business and development team are working hard to deliver, depending on regulatory and compliance processes.
What’s more, our new Singapore office will be open soon too — building on our Asia region presence started last year with our Tokyo office (news for Japan coming soon too).
