How to fund your EUR account (SEPA)

One of the ways you can add funds to your Wirex account is by using Regular bank transfer . In this article, we will show you how to add EUR to your Wirex account using Regular bank transfer in the UK and EEA.  

Before funding your EUR account, make sure you’ve activated your SEPA payment details using our article on How to activate SEPA payment details.

Step 1: Open the Wirex app and click Cash In

The first step is to open your Wirex app and click on the 'Cash In' button. You can find this button on the main 'Dashboard' of the app. Once you click on it, you will be taken to a screen where you can choose which account you want to add funds to. Choose EUR.

Step 2: Choose Bank Details 

Once you have selected the account you want to add funds to, you will see a list of options to choose from. Select the 'Regular Bank Transfer' option to proceed.

Step 3: Note down your EUR account details and add this as a beneficiary in your online banking 

You will now see the details of your Wirex account, including the Beneficiary name, IBAN, and BIC. Note down these details or take a screenshot so you can easily refer to them later. Then, log in to your online banking and add your Wirex account as a beneficiary. When making a payment to your Wirex EUR account, always enter the correct details including the beneficiary's name. This will ensure the payment will be processed accordingly, without any unexpected delays.

Step 4: Wait for the payment to be processed

Wirex supports both SEPA Instant and SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT) payment methods :

  • SEPA Instant: If supported by your bank, the payment usually arrives within 2 hours.

  • SEPA Credit Transfers: If your bank doesn't support SEPA Instant, the deposit will be processed as a standard payment, which usually takes 2-3 business days.

The payment method will always be determined by your bank.

Sometimes, payments may be temporarily held for routine security checks. If this happens, it's nothing to worry about—our team will contact you if we need additional details to proceed. 

You can also consider another method to fund your EUR account. You will avoid the need for extra steps by switching to the Payment account from the 'Dashboard'.

This will take you straight to the EUR payment details.

1. How long does a SEPA deposit take?
SEPA Instant is usually processed within 2 hours if supported by your bank. SEPA Credit Transfer usually takes 2-3 business days.

2. Are there any fees for SEPA payments?
We do not charge any fees for SEPA payments, allowing fast and free deposits in your EUR account.

3. Why was my SEPA payment delayed or rejected?
If you're an EEA customer, please ensure that the payment is made from your own bank account in your name. We do not accept third-party payments and will reject and reverse them back to the sender.

Delays may occur due to additional monitoring, which is a standard security measure. There's no need to worry—your time is valuable to us, and our dedicated team will reach out if we need to double-check any details.

4. Can I receive SEPA payments from a third party (e.g. businesses, friends)?
For EEA customers, we currently support only first-party payments that must be sent to or received from an account in your name. For UK customers, both first-party and third-party payments are supported.
