Password requirements and troubleshooting

A strong and secure password is crucial for protecting your Wirex account and your funds. To ensure the safety of your account, Wirex has specific password requirements that you must follow. This article will explain those requirements and offer troubleshooting tips if you have difficulty with your password. 

To keep your Wirex account secure, we have specific password requirements that you should follow. Your password must be at least 8 characters long, and should include numbers and special characters. 

To choose a strong password, we recommend using password manager software, such as 1Password. A password manager can generate random, unique passwords for each website you visit, which can protect you against phishing attacks. 

If you don't want to use a password manager, make sure you use a long, random password that is unique to your Wirex account. Don't reuse passwords from other websites, especially your email account. You can use a passphrase, but don't choose a phrase from a book or movie, as hackers have access to sophisticated databases of these quotes. 

To change your password if you're already signed in to your Wirex account, go to the profile icon in the top left hand of screen of the Wirex app, select “Security”, and choose “Change password”. Enter your existing password and the new password, which will generate a 2-step verification code. Enter the verification code and select “Confirm”. 

Troubleshooting: 

If you're having difficulty with your password, follow these troubleshooting tips: 

  • Make sure you're using the correct email address: The email address you use to log in to Wirex must be the same email address you used to create your account. If you're unsure which email address you used, try all the email addresses you use regularly. 
  • Check your caps lock: If your password contains uppercase letters, make sure your caps lock is off. Passwords are case-sensitive, so "password" and "PASSWORD" are not the same. 
  • Use the "Forgot Password" feature: If you can't remember your password, use the "Forgot Password" feature on the login page. You'll receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password. 
  • Change your password regularly: To ensure the security of your account, it's a good idea to change your password regularly. We recommend changing it every few months. 
  • Try a password manager: If you're struggling to remember all your passwords, consider using a password manager like LastPass or Dashlane. A password manager can help you create strong, unique passwords for all your accounts and remember them for you. 
  • To reset your password, select “Forgot password” from the login screen. Enter your email address and select “Reset password”.
