Proof of address verification: Accepted documents

Verifying your address is an important step in the identity verification process when creating a Wirex account. It is necessary to provide proof of address (POA) to confirm the information you provided during the sign-up process. This helps prevent fraud and other illegal activities, and it also ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. 

In this guide, we will outline all the documents that we accept for POA. 

What documents are accepted for address verification? 

To verify your address, you will need to provide a document that confirms your name and current address. The following documents are accepted for address verification: 

Documents that need to be dated within the last 6 months:  

  • Bank / Credit card statement (must show transaction history or summary indicating cash in/out, must be not issued by an online / neo bank) 
  • Utility bill (water, electricity, gas, landline, and internet bills are accepted) 
  • Tax invoice or government-issued residential statement/certificate

Documents with any date providing they have not expired: 

  • Government-issued ID Card (must contain address) where it has not been used as a POI document
  • Government-issued driving licence (must contain address) where it has not been used as a POI document

Note that we cannot accept your a government-issued ID card or driving licence if the same document was used during your verification process when joining Wirex. 

Please note that we do NOT accept:

  • screenshots
  • Mobile phone bills
  • Bank statements issued by online / neo banks
  • Medical bills
  • receipts, or insurance statements
