When you own a Wirex card, you have the freedom to spend your cryptocurrency in the same way you would use a traditional debit or credit card. However, like any other card, your Wirex card has an expiration date. This article will explain what happens when your Wirex card expires and how you can order a new one.
When your Wirex card is about to expire, Wirex will send you a notification in advance, asking you to order a new card. This notification is usually sent around one to two months before the expiry date. You can order a new card directly from the Wirex app.
If you do not order a new card, your current card will be automatically deactivated on the last day of the expiration month. Hence, you should be able to use your Wirex card 30 days after its expiry date. For example, your Wirex card expires in May 2024. It should be valid and available for use 30 days of May. It has been done for your convenience so that you could have time to receive a new Wirex card. You will no longer be able to use your card for transactions, including online and in-store purchases, ATM withdrawals, and cashback rewards after the expiration month ends.
- To order a new card, follow these simple steps:
- Log in to your Wirex app and go to the "Cards" section.
- Select the card that is about to expire.
- Click on "Reorder Card" and choose the “Card expires soon” option
- Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your order.
Once you have ordered your new card, it should arrive within 7-10 business days. Your new card will have a different card number and expiration date, so make sure to update any recurring payments or subscriptions that are linked to your old card.
Please pay attention that when you request a reissue for your expiring card, the current one should remain valid until you receive and activate the new card. Your old card will be deactivated as soon as you activate your new Wirex card.
