Get yourself educated

There are numerous career types out there that require you to have specific qualifications. While FinTech isn’t necessarily one of these, taking the time to learn is only going to boost your chances of being regarded as an industry expert. Not sure of the education you’ll need? Here are three suggestions to explore:

Master the basics

If you’re a graduate and you’re looking at making your first move into the world of FinTech, the great news is that there are free courses out there that will allow you to master the basics. The FinTech MOOC is run by the University of Hong Kong and is put together by industry experts.

For a 6-week course, you’re expected to study for 1-3 hours every week.

The next step

If you really want to make a great start in your FinTech career, it is well worth exploring the Fintech Foundation course. This is a course that goes beyond the basics and allows you to really get to grips with the theory.

There are around 40,000 people around the world signed up for this course. Run by academics and industry experts, it gives a real insight into all things FinTech.

Become an expert

Perhaps your idea of a FinTech career is one where you become the go-to industry expert. If that’s the case, you really should be exploring the Oxford FinTech programme. This is an advanced course that allows you to demonstrate your knowledge via practical application.

With a requirement to study around 15 hours a week, you’re going to need to commit to getting through this course. However, the doors that it will help you to open make it all worthwhile.
