In March we announced that we’d teamed up with Agoda to bring some fantastic deals and cashback offers to Wirex customers living in APAC. We’re now excited to announce that we’ve expanded these deals to Wirex users living in the EEA!

We love crypto at Wirex and think it makes the perfect travel companion, with Wirex offering benefits such as free FX at exclusive rates and high limits on international ATM withdrawals. Do you love crypto and travelling but need some inspiration on where to go next? Here’s some suggestions for where you should travel in Europe based on your favourite cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin (BTC) – France

When you think of crypto, what’s the first one that springs to mind? Bitcoin right? Well, we think it’s the same for holiday locations. France has spent its time at the top of many a list when it comes to popular holiday destinations, and Bitcoin isn’t dissimilar.

Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to exist. We’re not saying France was the first holiday destination to exist but it’s definitely a trusty classic.

Ethereum (ETH) – Spain

Don’t be fooled, Ethereum isn’t just Bitcoin’s sidekick. It’s quickly been making a name for itself as one of the biggest cryptocurrencies around. ETH reached new all-time highs in 2021, which means it needs a holiday companion that’s just as exciting.

Ethereum isn’t just a cryptocurrency, it’s an ambitious blockchain project at the forefront of the DeFi movement, making it more general and wide reaching. Spain isn’t too different, it offers pretty much everything: beaches, city breaks, skiing, cheap weekend getaway. This is one versatile couple.

Nano (NANO) - Sweden

If you’re looking to go green when it comes to crypto and holidays, look no further than our next pairing. Nano is a great option if you’re looking for an eco-friendly crypto, as it doesn’t rely on mining. Sweden ranks as one of the most sustainable countries in the world, leading the way when it comes to renewable energy, recycling, and sustainable living so these two are a green match made in heaven.

Ripple (XRP) – The Netherlands

XRP often has a reputation for being a little bit spontaneous and unpredictable, but when it comes to holidays, who doesn’t love a little bit of spontaneity? Amsterdam has long been a favourite for those looking for an impromptu getaway but, like XRP, there’s more to the Netherlands than just Amsterdam. Ripple has ambitious plans to revolutionise international transactions and the Netherlands is home to good food, drink, culture, and history - perfect occasions to put those international transactions to the test. When it comes to this pairing, there’s much more than initially meets the eye.

Litecoin (LTC) – Belgium

Litecoin is all about speed, and has a faster transaction time than Bitcoin. Where better to travel than Belgium which offers free public transport for those under the age of 25, while also being a European hub for connecting flights all around the world. If you want to get somewhere quickly, Belgium Charleroi airport is the place to hop over to, and if you want even quicker transactions, Litecoin is the crypto for you.

Dai (DAI)  - Romania

If you haven’t heard about stablecoins you’re not alone. A recent study found that only 25% of crypto users were aware of stablecoins, so it’s safe to say they’re underrated. When it comes to holiday destinations, there are plenty of countries in Europe that don’t get enough hype, one of them being Romania. From wildlife to beaches to castles, there’s a lot to see and do in Romania, and many are quickly realising it’s a great destination that won’t break the bank. Stablecoins are on their way to becoming popular, plus they’re a great option for those who are new to crypto as they’re pegged to a stable asset, meaning they’re much less volatile than other cryptocurrencies.

Waves (WAVES) – Portugal

Obviously, we had to pick a surf destination for WAVES. Portugal is one of the best locations in Europe for surfers of all levels and the WAVES cryptocurrency attracts an equally dedicated fanbase. Waves allows users to create their own tokens, as well as staking their crypto for rewards, just like Portugal, it’s an all-round good time.

Stellar Lumens (XLM) – Germany

Wirex and Stellar are a match made in heaven because we’re both passionate about making crypto more accessible and moving towards mass adoption. Another match made in heaven is Stellar Lumens and Germany. If you love the efficiency and security of XLM then Germany is the destination for you. Ranked highly on the Global Peace Index, Germany is a great tourism spot for those who are interested in food, culture, and a buzzing nightlife.

Wirex Token (WXT) – Hungary

Last but definitely not least is our native token, WXT. We’re on a mission to bring cryptocurrency into the mainstream, and we created WXT so everyone could see how much crypto has to offer. Both WXT and Hungary are great all-rounders, and with Hungary being right in the middle of Europe, it’s a great holiday destination that everyone can easily get to. It’s also really easy to get WXT thanks to our world’s first Cryptoback™ programme that rewards users with up to 2% in WXT on purchases made online and in store with our Wirex card.

Don’t forget, if you’re living in the APAC region, you can still make the most of these travel deals too whether you’re booking a staycation or exploring somewhere new!

From 15th September, Agoda will be providing great offers for Wirex customers in the EEA region, as well as those in the APAC region.

You can get up to 6% off existing travel deals with Agoda, when booking with your Wirex Mastercard in the EEA or Wirex Visa travelcard in APAC.
