Gender equality affects mental health, productivity and motivation, meaning it individuals and businesses are looking to tackle this challenge more than ever.

Gender diversity, equal career development and opportunities have always been prioritised here at Wirex and we’re going to talk about 3 key steps that we take to maintain it.

Adopted a Hiring Process that Ensures Diversity

We know that actively and intentionally investing in diversity and inclusion in the workplace will create a happier, more engaged workforce that will benefit companies on every level. This was particularly important for us in the crypto space which is historically male-dominated.

That’s why we’ve adopted a new structured and comprehensive hiring process to attract the right talent to meet our ambitious growth and expansion plans. Wirex has always had highly professional specialists working for us, but never considered their background, ethnicity or gender. Each of our employees got their place in the Wirex family thanks to their talent and skills and every one of them plays an important role in the development of the company.

In fact, since August 2021, we’ve grown our headcount by 39%, all-the-while ensuring that Wirex has an above industry average gender ratio of 60:40 (men/women)!

Introduced Benefits & Rewards Promoting Diversity

We provide a personal approach to every Wirexer and try to make the workplace as convenient as possible.

We’re constantly reviewing the market when it comes to benefits and rewards and have tried to cater particularly for mothers with busy schedules. We’ve made the decision to introduce several new family and work-life policies which will see us increasing paid annual leave well above the industry average, enhance maternity and paternity leave policies, reward our employees with their birthday/service anniversary off, and host regular in-person and virtual socials to support company culture and enhance team collaboration.

We also offer flexible working, meaning we allow teammates to work remotely if it suits them better; ideal for those that need to consider childcare.

Once a year, all Wirexers are kindly asked to complete a set of online training courses including one on 'Diversity, Equality & Inclusion'. We strongly believe these actions are vital for maintaining equality and spreading respect within the company.

Created Brand Campaigns that Celebrate Diversity

In 2020, we created the Women in Crypto campaignto celebrate women’s achievements in the fintech, crypto and blockchain sectors. This aims to highlight what women in the industry, including our employees, are doing, in the hope of encouraging other females to get involved.

As a part of the campaign, we’ve also launched the Rising Women in Crypto Power List. It aims to recognise the top females working in the space and demonstrate to others the opportunities that lie in the crypto sector for males and females alike. Since its kick-off, the Power List has received nearly 600 nominations from more than 50 countries.

This year, entries are open until the 18th October and the finalists will be announced on the 8th November.
